The rolling mill bearing developed by Wafangdian Bearing Group replaced imported ones

 Operating for over one year on the installed equipment of customers, 4 specifications of bearings developed by Wafangdian Bearing Group for the high speed wire rod mill instead of imported bearing have reached the international level of similar products, gaining wide recognition. Wafangdian Bearing Group also got the mission of developing another 4 kinds of bearings for the high speed wire rod mill from a customer at the beginning of this year. Up to now, the samples has been successfully produced, and are being tested in the Engineering Test Center for limit speed and service life test.

The customer is specialized in the processing and manufacturing of high speed wire rod mill and metallurgical machinery equipment, of which the high speed wire rod mill equipment have been exported to European and American markets. The High speed wire rod mill generally consists of 10 sets of equipment with each equipment composed of a taper box and roll box. The 4 specifications of bearings earlier provided by Wafangdian Bearing Group, used in the taper box, met all the requirements of the customer in their running-in test. After the successful replacement of imported bearings with the taper box bearings, the customer expected Wafangdian Bearing Group to develop spindle bearings for main reducer and spinning machine and roll box bearing to replace imported ones.

According to an engineer of product development from Engineering Center of Wafangdian Bearing Group, the bearings used for high speed wire rod mill request high precision whose processing are very difficult. The newly developed 4 specifications of bearings adopted the technique of universal matching process and used special materials and techniques for its cage, which are currently being tested in its limit speed.

The development of high-speed bearing has always been a “short plank” in domestic bearing industry. But Wafangdian Bearing Group has made a break-through in the core technology of high speed wire rod mill bearings, which will change the long-term situation that high speed wire rod mill bearings have to be imported.
