My office window overlooks a golf course and I often think about the ways that international business is like the game of golf:

1. Sometimes the game doesn’t go the way you planned. When your ball goes off track, you have to make alternative plans and adjustments.

2. Golf seems like an easy game. Once you get into it, you realize that it’s much more complex than it looks.

4. Spending time together on the golf course is helpful in cultivating strategic relationships.

5. When it all comes together and you make that perfect shot, the whole game was worth it!
