GMRI Joint Venture with Morgan Construction

Recently, a joint venture, Guangzhou Morgan Seal Co.,Ltd, was founded in Guangzhou. The company, formed by Guangzhou Mechanical Research Institute(GMRI) and US Morgan Construction Company, mainly produce seals for oil film bearings.

In order to strengthen themself, GMRI employed an collaboration strategy to take advantage of foreign famous enterprises' advanced technologies. According to their strategy, they will form joint ventures with different foreign enterprises to produce the previously-selected 4 most competitive sealing products respectively.

To form a joint venture with Morgan Construction Company will not only learn some advanced technologies but also could take advantage of Morgan's superiority in producing oil film bearing to raise GMRI's reputation in metallurgy industry, help them seize more market shares and even open the overseas market.

Morgan Construction Company is the acknowledged world leader in rolling mill technology. Founded in 1888, by Charles Hill Morgan in Worcester, Massachusetts, Morgan continues to grow and expand with new steel technologies. Morgan has designed and installed more than 450 rod, bar, and billet mills in more than 40 countries around the world. These mills have set worldwide benchmarks for technological leadership, reliability and performance.

Guangzhou Mechanical Research Institute(CMRI) is the former Guangzhou Machine Tool Research Institute that founded in 1959, covering an area of 120,000 squre meters. At the beginning, the institute mainly engaged in research works of basic mechanical technologies, materials and components. July 1999, it became a subsidiary of SINOMACH(China National Machinery Industry Corporation). In July 2000, the institute renamed as Guangzhou Mechanical Research Institute. Now they employ over 600 people, 400 of whom are technical staffs.

The CMRI has developed into a high-tech enterprise with four major segments: M.E.; hydraulic; lubrication and sealing.
