Brazilian Demand Import Restriction Against Chinese Auto Parts

Ministry of Commerce of China(MCC) source, following the import restriction against Chinese storage battery in May, Brazilian enterprises again asked the government for another similar policies to restrain imported auto parts from China in July.

During the first half, Brazil's export of auto parts to China declined by 0.58 percent year-on-year, export value shrank to $106.1 million. Instead, its import of such goods from China increased by 63 percent to $93 million.

Brazilian enterprises engaged in auto parts business said that imported auto parts from China only cost 10 to 15 percent of the price for native produced ones, showing a potential of dumping. Thus, they demanded that measures, like import restriction or rise the current 11% tariff, should be carried out by the government to protect local industry.
