Triple ring bearings are lubricated with oil. The bearings are provided with the necessary lubricating grooves and holes for reliable lubricant supply.

For a constant distribution of pressure and an even degree of paper thickness across the entire web width so-called deflection compensation rolls are used in the presses and calenders of paper making machines. The shells of these rolls rotate around the stationary roll axle. In relation to the axle the roll shell is supported by means of diverse hydraulic systems which influence the shape of the roll shell’s profile and adapts it to the shell profile of the counter roll. Such rolls can be driven. In the case of driven rolls triple ring bearings are frequently used. When mounting the triple ring bearings the stationary axle – the so-called crosshead – is supported in the bearing’s inner ring. The rotating middle ring connects the drive with the roll shell.
